Alzheimer's Disease

Progressive mental deterioration that can occur in middle or old age due to generalized degeneration of the brain. It is the most common cause of premature senility.

Parkinson's Disease

A disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement, often including tremors.

Migraine Headaches

Recurrent throbbing headaches that typically affect one side of the head and are often accompanied by nausea and disturbed vision.

Shingles

An acute, painful inflammation of the nerve ganglia, with a skin eruption often forming a girdle around the middle of the body. It is caused by the same virus as chickenpox.

Mild Cognitive Impairment

Is a condition in which a person has memory loss or thinking problems that are worse than those caused by normal aging, but not bad enough to interfere with daily activities.

Signs of Normal Forgetfulness

Serious memory problems can also be a sign of other medical issues unrelated to the brain, such as blood clots, kidney problems, liver problems, depression, or an adverse reaction to medication.

Palm Beach Neurological Center is participating in a global clinical research study to prevent or delay Alzheimer’s disease in cognitively healthy, older individuals that have been identified with one or two major genetic risk factors for the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. It tests to determine if they carry one or two copies of the apolipoprotein E4 (APOE) gene, the major genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Call 561-282-5546 for more information.
